10 Things You Need To Know About Pusha T’s ‘MNIMN’

It’s a been a big year for Hip-Hop releases in 2013 from some of the genres biggest acts. In a calendar year that has seen releases from Kanye West, JAY Z, Big Sean, Wale, J. Cole, 2 Chainz, Drake and more, it’s been the underdogs that have truly delivered some of the standout work of 2013.

Artists like Chance The Rapper, Tyler, The Creator, Killer Mike & El-P, Juicy J, & Audio Push may have not topped your list of people to have great rap projects of the year when 2013 kicked off, but they have undoubtedly answered the bell and delivered on their projects. Add Pusha T to that list. A few nights ago, one half of The Clipse and G.O.O.D. Music’s golden child had a listening session that included one of the most intense rants given in Kanye West’s life. Kind of like a double-edged sword, Ye’s presence and rant might have taken away some attention from the My Name Is My Name listening session.

However, Push A Ton held a proper and private listening session yesterday at Def Jam Records consisting of a roundtable of LowKey from YouHeardThatNew, Combat Jack, Dallas Penn, Nicole from RapGenius, Mikey Fresh from VIBE, the team from Mass Appeal and yours truly.

My Name Is My Name will be Pusha’s first full length project under Def Jam Records/G.O.O.D. Music and has become more and more anticipated as tastemakers and writers have become hip to the album. However, Mr. Thornton played the album for the first time in its entirety for the select few mentioned above.

Hit the jump to get a preview of Pusha T’s album, My Name Is My Name and check out 10 things you need to know about it before you cop it on October 8th.
