Neymar x Air Jordan 5 Low To Release In 2016

during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Group A match between Cameroon and Brazil at Estadio Nacional on June 23, 2014 in Brasilia, Brazil.

We’ve seen Jordan Brand drop Air Jordan retro sneakers with special colorways for basketball players many times over the years. In 2016 however, Jordan Brand will step out of the basketball realm for the Neymar x Air Jordan 5 Low release. Although Neymar has been a Nike athlete for nearly nine years, the collaboration will be the first between Jordan Brand and a soccer superstar.

Whether they’re exclusive pairs like the recent Air Jordan 13 CP3 PE release, the very rare Jordan CP3 .IX “OVO,” or Carmelo Anthony’s Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red Suede” PE, the stars of the basketball world regularly get dibs on some of the freshest and rarest Air Jordan colorways. While there are no details yet as to the colors of special design traits that the Neymar x Air Jordan 5 Low might sport, chances are that the collaboration will either tap the soccer forward’s Brazilian roots and/or possibly his FC Barcelona ties. If with the Nike Hypervenom Liquid Diamond is any indication, Neymar”s first Air Jordan will certainly have several nods to his personality on and off the pitch.

With Cristiano Ronaldo now in the twilight of his career, Neymar becoming the first ever soccer player to get his own Air Jordan seems to be in line with the company’s plan to have him become the new face of Nike Soccer.

According to Sole Collector, retail calendars have earmarked a Fall 2016 release for an Air Jordan 5 Low collaboration with the Brazilian soccer phenom. Stay tuned for more details about the groundbreaking collaboration as they become available.
