Andre 3000 on Kid Cudi’s “Speeding Bullet to Heaven,” His “American Crime” Role and More

Andre 3000

It’s always a good feeling when Andre 3000’s name pops up on the Net. This time, he’s in headlines for his new role as the husband of Regina King on the second season of ABC’s American Crime. “It was fun because it was like an exercise in being able to be outside of myself,” he tells Billboard. “In real life, I always feel like an oddball going to my kid’s school because I’m a musician; I’m not the normal dad. So to be able to play one is fun to me.”

Something else Andre 3000 finds exciting is his recent music sessions with R&B singer Erykah Badu (his child’s mother). The two collaborated on “Hello,” one of the songs off of Badu’s But You Caint Use My Phone project. “I’m happy it happened. It was a great reunion, because I don’t think people have heard a song from us in ages,” he says.

He also reveals the artists he’s currently listening to, which includes Kid Cudi.  “[Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven] is awesome to me,” he says, adding “That’s kind of like the most recent thing that I think is really great.”

There’s no telling when fans can look forward to new music, but he does mention being in the studio. Catch the season two premiere of American Crime tonight on ABC.
