Magic Johnson Calls Ben Simmons The Best Prospect Since LeBron James

STASHED hipped you to the next big thing, Ben Simmons, a few weeks ago. However, if you aren’t going to listen to us then odds are you will probably listen to NBA legend Magic Johnson. “LSU’s Ben Simmons is the best all around player I’ve seen since LeBron James came out of high school straight to the NBA!” Johnson tweeted Tuesday. “Whatever team selects Ben Simmons, will be getting a player that will have an immediate impact on their squad!”

Simmons, an Australian-born 6’10” swingman, has been the projected #1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft since he was a junior in high school. Despite early foul trouble last night, Simmons scored 14 points with 10 assists in 27 minutes on the court in LSU’s 85–67 upset of No. 9 Kentucky.

Simmons leads the Tigers with averages of 20.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 33.6 minutes per game through 14 games. His trend of historic numbers has already put him in a class of his own. Despite LSU’s spotty record of 9-5, Simmons is on track to be the first college player in the past 20 years to average over 15 points per game, 12 rebounds and five assists.

With his combination of skill, size and athletic ability it isn’t rare to see why people have dubbed him the second coming of “The King,” but time will tell if he will live up to the hype of the NBA’s current greatest. Check out a few highlights and rim-rattling dunks from his performance last night against Kentucky.
