There’s a Petition for Nike to Re-Release the Air Yeezy 2

Nike Air Yeezy 2 rerelease petition

Kanye West may be badmouthing Nike these days, but that doesn’t mean that his run of kicks with The Swoosh are no longer in popular demand. Sneakerhead Dwayne Gates Jr. has spearheaded a petition on to bring back the Nike Air Yeezy 2 that has already garnered over 9,000 signatures.

Gates Jr.’s petition goes beyond just facilitating another limited re-release of the Air Yeezy 2. The petition calls for Nike to drop the Kanye West-designed sneaker as a general release, citing the violent acts that have been committed to obtain the highly sought after sneaker as the rationale for a wider release. Making his case for an Air Yeezy 2 general release, Gates Jr. states “Sneakerheads have been killed over these shoes, gone into debt, have killed for these, robbed for these, bought fake versions of them, been robbed for them etc. How long must this occur. Nike can easily just produce a mass amount in each color (platinum, solar red, red October) and solve this problem.” On a lighter note, Gates Jr. adds ” It will also help Kanye West who’s been upset about how Nike wouldn’t give him royalties on his shoe deal or how they wouldn’t make his shoe a mass general release. We’ll take one of the two requests.”
