Kendrick Lamar has been the topic of discussion for a while now. He unleashed his critically acclaimed To Pimp a Butterfly LP last year, and has managed to keep the buzz going with the release of powerful music videos (“Alright,” “For Free,” and “These Walls“), unexpected loosies (“Untitled 2”), and of course, performances.
His latest set comes courtesy of PBS. The network captured the TDE artist as he performed at Austin City Limits back in October. At the time, Kendrick Lamar was in the midst of his Kunta’s Groove Sessions where he played a number of intimate shows around the United States. While most probably expected the focus to surround his newest album, K. Dot returned to a few songs off of good kid, m.A.A.d city.
Kendrick Lamar’s one-hour set included performances of “B*tch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “Backseat Freestyle,” “These Walls,” “u,” “i,” “For Free?” and “Alright.” It’s interesting to see the song selection grow over the past months, especially after his sit-down with Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97. “I just want them to have it right, for the fans, for the people that really appreciate this album. The response is overwhelming, so I gotta take that same energy that I put in the studio and make sure it’s on stage the right way,” he said.
