Kristaps Porzingis Meets The Kid Who Cried When The Knicks Drafted Him

Porzingis Met The Kid Who Cried When They Drafted Him

If you needed any more proof that New York is now a Porzingis town, this is it. Do you remember the kid who cried the most sincere and hurtful tears during the 2015 NBA Draft when the New York Knicks selected Kristaps Porzingis with the 4th overall pick? Well the kid finally came face-to-face with the Latvian rookie sensation last night, and his reaction was quite the opposite of that draft night.

Not only was the kid wearing a Porzingis jersey at the game, he got to take a selfie courtside at the game last night as the Knicks dismantled the Milwaukee Bucks. “I told my brother whenever he sees that kid he’s got to bring him to the sideline so we can take a picture,” Porzingis wrote recently on NBA.com. “I will joke around with him a little bit, but not too hard. He’s still a kid. What would I say to him? I would ask if it was him who was crying at the draft and why was he crying. To hear the explanation from the kid, that would be funny.”

Porzingis, also known as Three Six Latvia, also known as Godzingis, also known as Porzingawd, is averaging 13.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game into mid-January. Not only has he won fans over with his solid numbers, he has electrified Madison Square Garden with his sharpshooting exploits and explosive dunks. His play has the New York Knicks currently in the hunt for the 8th and final playoff spot in the suddenly-loaded Eastern Conference.
