Behind the hype surrounding Kanye West’s forthcoming album SWISH, there’s a whole stock of brand-new music awaiting release. While Kim Kardashian recently hinted at the Chicago emcee’s plans to revive his G.O.O.D. Fridays series, it seems like she spoke too soon.
“I soooo didn’t mean to lie to you guys about GOOD FRIDAYS coming back,” she tweeted. “Kanye flew to Italy for a Yezzy Season 3 fitting.” In the tweets following, she detailed the full version of the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “No More Parties in L.A,” which Ye revealed a snippet of during the release of “Real Friends.” “He flew Noah out with him so he could finish ‘No More Parties In La’ & wrote 90 bars on the plane there,” she added.
There’s no telling whether Kanye West will commit to Fridays again. The weekly series first arrived back in 2010 as Kanye West prepared for the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. At the time, he unleashed a number of loosies, some—”So Appalled” ft. Cyhi the Prynce, RZA and others, and the Nicki Minaj, Jay Z- and Rick Ross-assisted “Power”—even landing on that critically acclaimed LP.
Kanye West surprised listeners with his previous offering, “Real Friends.” It was a switch-up from the majority of what he released in prior months, leaving many excited about the next few Fridays leading up to the February 11 release date for SWISH.
It was back in November when Kanye West described his upcoming LP as “a sonic painting,” and said it was getting better every week. Let’s hope this series follows the same path.
