World’s First Arcade Hotel Opens In Amsterdam [PHOTOS]

Gamers looking for a getaway may want to move Amsterdam to the top of their list. Aside from all the other activities it’s known for, the Netherlands’ capital city is now home to The Arcade Hotel – the world’s first gamer-dedicated lodging that caters specifically to travelers who want to fire up a gaming console even when they’re on vacation.

Located in the De Pijp section of Amsterdam, The Arcade Hotel boasts 36 rooms with a modern aesthetic. Each room has consoles and games – old and new – available to play to your heart’s content. Should you want to move around the hotel but aren’t ready to hit quit, there are also handheld consoles on hand that you can use in other areas of the hotel, including the hotel bar. Guests can even borrow extra handhelds for multiplayer games. One can only hope that future amenities include the upcoming Nintendo NX portable.

If playing video games in your hotel room all day starts to feel a bit too anti-social, The Arcade Hotel will also host scheduled gaming events that will be held regularly in the hotel’s common areas. Other activities include exploring the hotel’s comic book library or borrowing a bike from The Arcade to venture out into the streets of Amsterdam. Visitors may also want to consider cruising around the city on a Gogoro electric scooter.

Visit The Arcade Hotel website for more info and bookings.
