Get These Free Xbox Games with Gold In February 2016

Free Xbox games for Gold subscribers.

February is around the corner and that means a new slate of free games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Next month’s lineup will feature four free games, two of which are for Xbox One, while the other two are for Xbox 360. While most are lesser-known titles, there is one game up among the bunch that every gamer should be familiar with (and geeked about).

The free Xbox games up for grabs in February fall into a variety of genres. The first Xbox One game on the menu is Hand of Fate, an action-RPG title that will be available for free download February 1-29. The second Xbox One title is Styx: Master of Shadows, a stealth game that released in 2014. Styx will be available for free download from February 16-March 15.

One of the Xbox 360 games that will be available for free download next month might be a bit underwhelming for Xbox gamers that also subscribe to PlayStation Plus. Sacred Citadel is an action game that released in 2013 to mixed reception. The game was available for free as part of PlayStation Plus July 2015. Citadel will be available for free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers February 1-15.

Last but not least, the critically acclaimed third-person shooter Gears of War 2 will also be part of the February lineup of free games. The title will be available for free download on Xbox 360 from February 16-29.

In addition to the four free games on deck for February, Xbox Live Gold members can also snag another bonus title for a limited time. The Witcher 2 is also free to download on Xbox 360 until February 5. The promotion is a way to commemorate the game being added to the Xbox One backwards-compatibility library.

If you’re just getting put on to the monthly Xbox come-up, be sure to check out last month’s titles. The free January games include Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Season 1 of the Killer Instinct reboot.
