First-ever Electronic Music Awards Coming This Spring

Electronic

Electronic music is finally being celebrated on a large platform. This week, executive producer Paul Oakenfold announced the arrival of the inaugural Electronic Music Awards & Foundation. “I’m thrilled to be a part of an awards show that finally both recognizes and celebrates, on a primetime platform, one of the biggest music genres in the world today,” he said.

Though the event will be filmed on April 14 at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles, California, the ceremony will actually air on April 23 on FOX at 8PM. According to the Hollywood Reporter, “The show will feature red carpet coverage, awards presentations, interviews and live performances.”

Last year was huge for the growing music genre. Artists like Disclosure, Skrillex and Diplo, Flying Lotus, and Jamie xx are all being recognized at the upcoming Grammy Awards. There’s also tons of R&B and Hip-Hop acts who are trying their hand at dance music. Justin Bieber paired with Skrillex and Diplo (also known as Jack Ü) on “Where Are Ü Now.” Others artists who have expanded their sound include Pusha T (“Burial” and “This Time“), DJ Mustard (“Whole Lotta Lovin‘” featuring Travis Scott), and Ty Dolla Sign and ILoveMakonnen on “4 Real.”
