A Crash Bandicoot Reboot for PlayStation 4 Might Be In The Works

Sony hints at Crash Bandicoot game for Playstation 4

Much to the dismay of PlayStation 3 and 4 owners, there hasn’t been a new Crash Bandicoot game since 2008. It looks like that may finally change. If a recent image shared by PlayStation is any indication, the wildly popular character could be making his return in an upcoming PS4 title.

PlayStation Middle East recently shared a tweet that features the orange marsupial posing in front of a message that translates to “Most Wanted: Where are you Crash?” No official details about a Crash Bandicoot game dropping for PS4 have been released by Sony, but fans are already debating whether or not the post is a teaser for a completely new CB game or a rerelease of an old game from the franchise.

There’s some evidence to support both theories. A rerelease of an old Crash Bandicoot game seems very plausible simply for the fact that Sony just launched its PS2 to PS4 emulation program. The technology has already granted Ps4 owners access to a number of classic titles, so adding a Crash game to the list only seems logical. As for the theory of a complete Crash Bandicoot reboot, those rumors have been circulating for a few years. According to Game Rant, a source close to CB developer Naughty Dog claims that a new Crash Bandicoot game is “definitely in production.” Series co-creator Andy Gavin also shared his thoughts about a “total reboot” as recently as 2013.
