It’s been almost three years since Baauer exploded onto the scene with his infectious single “Harlem Shake.” In the time since that hit, he’s worked with M.I.A., Fetty Wap, Rae Sremmurd, ASAP Rocky, and more, and continues to recruit talent to take on his massive sound. The latest artists to join in on the challenge are Novelist and Brooklyn’s own Leikeli47.
Baauer spoke on his sound in an interview with Fader. “Because the music I make is electronic, the recordings were a way to make it feel organic, however I could. Filling up the spectrum is a great way of putting it. Adding natural sounds to this digitally created music makes it feel real in some way,” he said. This feeling comes to life in the Hiro Murai-directed visual where Novelist and Leikeli47 deliver powerful rhymes as chaos erupts behind them.
Baauer is currently prepping his upcoming debut album, Aa. He announced the release during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Artists expected to appear on this release include Pusha T, Future, TT the Artist, Rustie, and more.
