Tom Hardy is on an impeccable win streak right now. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in The Revenant, Hardy has already picked up a few prestigious wins thanks to Mad Max: Fury Road, London Road and, of course, Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s frontier thriller. Since his breakout in Bronson back in 2008, Hardy has racked up acclaimed performances, becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men. He’s set to star in Christopher Nolan’s historical thriller Dunkirk next year, but before he graces the silver screen again, Hardy will invade our television sets with FX’s new miniseries, Taboo.
Created by Steven Knight, director of Locke (also starring Hardy) and creator of Peaky Blinders, Taboo takes place in 1814 and centers around James Keziah Delaney, a man who returns from Africa to London after spending many years presumably dead. He seeks to regain control of his father’s shipping empire, but must contend with those who seek to thwart his efforts. Hardy stars as James and executive-produces alongside Knight and acclaimed director Ridley Scott.
FX and BBC One shared the first trailer for Taboo earlier today and its packed with grim narrative and an exceptionally determined Hardy. “I am a very dangerous man to know,” he warns by the trailer’s end. House of Card‘s Michael Kelly and Game of Throne‘s Jonathan Pryce and Oona Chaplin also star.
