Report: Apple Is Launching a 9.7-Inch iPad Pro in March, Not Air 3

Apple to launch 9.7'' iPad Pro in March 2016

Apple is indeed launching a new iPad in March, but it appears the rumors were only half true. There’s been a substantial amount of talk about Apple revealing the iPad Air 3 at an upcoming March 15 event. A report from 9to5 Mac claims that the Air 3 won’t be making its debut next month. Instead, Apple will introduce a 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

The new iPad Pro will have the same color, storage options as its 12.9-inch predecessor. There are, however, improvements in the form of upgrades to the A9X processor and RAM. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will also support both a Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil. The former will, of course, need to be resized in order to fit with the smaller screen.

There’s no confirmation on the exact cost of the 9.7-inch iPadPro, but 9to5 Mac‘s report indicates that the price tag will be in line with current iPad Air models. The new Apple tablet will begin shipping as early as March 18.

Stay tuned for more info on the new iPad Pro and what other reveals Apple might have in store for its upcoming event.
