Is there any doubt that Stephen Curry is the greatest thing going in sports right now? Sure, he gets his name dropped in songs more than any athlete in recent memory, but where is the Holy Grail of those name drops? Was it when Drake said he was “Stephen Curry with the shot, boy?” Was it when Lil B the Based God christened him as the savior of his beloved hometown in Oakland? Nope.
During a “Piano and Microphone” show at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland Sunday night, Prince recognized the greatness of the “Babyfaced Assassin” one night after Curry hit his incredible 35-foot game winning jumpshot against the Oklahoma City Thunder. That’s right, even “The Purple One” had to recognize the greatness of the reigning NBA MVP and defending NBA champion.
Prince, who was an outstanding high school athlete in his own right according to a Minnesota Star Tribune clipping that was unearthed last year, as well as a legendary Chappelle’s Show skit, gave props to the Golden State Warriors superstar during an interlude.

“What can you truly count on besides Steph Curry?” asked Prince during the show. “And you can count on Steph Curry.” Yeah, you can keep the millions of name drops from rappers. Once Prince shouts you out, you’ve truly made it.
Prince was dope as always. Even repped Oakland: “Nothing in life is guaranteed … well, except Steph Curry.” pic.twitter.com/XCwN1MIaZt
