There’s always a slight chance that your favorite artist has enough records in the stash for a loosie. ASAP Ferg once mentioned his plans to use only 10 songs out of the 100 he recorded for his upcoming LP, Always Strive and Prosper. That leaves more than enough music to toss out to fans, and that’s exactly what’s been happening over the past few weeks.
Music has been steadily flowing out of the ASAP Mob Camp. Week after week, they’ve been unleashing tunes as part of their “Wavy Wednesdays” series. Their most recent collective came with the Danny Brown-assisted “Hella Hoes.” But Ferg has flown solo several times. In addition to letting off remixes to Rihanna’s “Work” and O.T. Genesis’ “Cut It,” he revisited the ’90s with an ode to the Spice Girls. Now, he’s tapping Atlanta artist Migos.
As one would expect, “Trap Anthem” is flashy. Rhymes about Rolls Royce Phantoms, bad women, and cash flood this short track. There’s no telling whether this will make the cut of Always Strive and Prosper. “The album is done,” said Ferg in an interview with Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg. “This album is so personal that I just picked the best songs that I feel like fits the album.”
