Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor’s beef is well detailed. And how couldn’t it be? The two are the most outspoken yet gifted fighters in combat sports history, and never have a problem speaking their mind. The two have exchanged words multiple times over each other’s popularity, race, and many other topics. Last year, Conor McGregor made headlines by saying that he would “kill” Floyd Mayweather in “30 seconds or less” if the two ever got into the Octagon together.
For all intents and purposes, McGregor is probably right. However, what would happen if the UFC Champion stepped inside the boxing ring with the undefeated “Money” Mayweather? In a recent interview, McGregor—who is scheduled to fight Nate Diaz at UFC 196 on Saturday night—stoked the flames of a possible boxing match with Mayweather saying that he’s open to it.
“In a boxing match?” asked McGregor. “I’m open to discussion. Come at me. But I hold the key. It is me who holds the key to the fight game. I am open-minded. I am open to discussion. I love competition. I love fighting. It would be nice to make that fight if the fans were interested and wanted to see it. Obviously, they would.”
Once the interviewer inferred that the fight would likely gross $1 billion, McGregor got excited. “I’m all about them numbers,” he added. “I would certainly do that, no problem.”
The odds of the fight happening are pretty astronomical, but McGregor is crazy like a fox and Mayweather really, really, likes money. If Conor keeps winning, maybe it happens. Maybe. Check the interview in the video player above.
