While fans have often been exposed to the upside of ASAP Ferg’s lifestyle, it looks like he’ll be using his forthcoming LP to add a personal touch to his catalogue. According to Stereogum, Always Strive and Prosper captures the Harlem artist as he goes “deeper into self.”
“I just feel like I wanted to connect with my fan base on a personal level, because I’ve gotten noticed for the bigger singles and it’s kind of like, I just blew up off of the songs that were… I wouldn’t say less introspective, but it wasn’t nothing that was going to tell you where I was from really or let you know who I was as a person,” he said.
Ferg led into his new body of work with the Future-assisted “New Level.” That was just one of 100 songs recorded for Always Strive and Prosper. The LP now features Missy Elliott, HAIM, Chris Brown, ScHoolboy Q, and more. “All my features just happened. [At first] I didn’t have any features on it. Just to get a well-rounded album, I wanted to get guests and friends,” he said.
The tracklisting, artwork and release date have yet to be revealed. To keep fans in tune, Ferg released the Migos-assisted “Trap Anthem” as a loosie last week as part of ASAP’s Mob’s “Wavy Wednesdays.”
