For all the things you can say about TNA, one thing remained clear: for the better part of the last decade they have employed one of the greatest professional wrestlers to ever live in Kurt Angle. The Olympic gold medalist and one of the most decorated champions in the history of professional wrestling has been the franchise player for TNA, and has continued to deliver quality matches even at his advanced age.
Angle has reportedly finished his contract with TNA and competed in his final match with the company last week when he was defeated by former TNA World Heavyweight Champion and Bellator MMA star Bobby Lashley. Angle has made no bones about wanting one final run with the WWE, and even made mention of wanting to mentor NXT stars Jason Jordan and Chad Gable of American Alpha.
Now, with Angle’s TNA contractual obligations out of the way, it is possible that “Your Olympic Hero” is ready to return home before taking his place in the WWE Hall of Fame. WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Chief Operating Officer, Triple H, reportedly met with Angle last weekend when the two were in Columbus, Ohio, for the Arnold Sports Festival according to the Wrestling Observer. No word yet on what was discussed. Triple H was there producing the WWE Experience happenings while Angle was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame.
It should also be noted that tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW takes place in Angle’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Are those familiar horns going to blare tonight? Don’t get your hopes up, but with the WWE fully on the “Road To WrestleMania,” anything can happen.
