You Can Pre-Order PlayStation VR Starting Next Week

PlayStation VR officially launches in October, but not everyone will have to wait ’til then to call dibs on the highly anticipated gadget. Sony has announced that gamers will be able to pre-order the PlayStation VR “Launch” bundle starting next week.

The PlayStation VR “Launch” bundle will retail for $499.99, with an exclusive pre-order available via the PlayStation online shop beginning Tuesday, March 22 at 7am PT. In addition to everything that the PlayStation VR “Core” bundle offers (headset, stereo headphones, cables, and demo disc), the “Launch” bundle also comes with a PlayStation Camera, two Move motion controllers and PlayStation VR Worlds.

With Sony having sold over 36 PlayStation 4 consoles to date and a “Launch” bundle that’s $100 less than competing VR headsets like the Oculus Rift, the PlayStation 4 VR (the standalone headset is only $399) is sure to be in very high demand. In addition to the appeal of a lower price, Sony claims it will have over 50 gaming titles from more than 230 developers for PlayStation VR at launch. And if that doesn’t sound like enough, the PS VR will also offer a “cinematic mode” that works for all standard PS4 games and even movies.

The initial PlayStation VR launch bundle pre-order will only be available in limited numbers. However, Sony is promising to greenlight another shipment of pre-orders slated for this summer.
