CM Punk Takes Shots At Vince McMahon And WWE In New Interview

CM Punk has been gone from the WWE for over two years and, despite not competing in the UFC professionally yet, he’s racked up a ton of quotes about his former employer. In an interview with’s Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Punk had some more scathing things to say about the WWE and, in particular, Vince McMahon.

“[They handled it] wonderful, in my opinion. I was in with Dana [White] and Lorenzo [Fertitta], and we were talking, and Dr. Sanders just came up and he goes, ‘alright, here it is.’ He laid it all on the table for us. Of course, Dana lets out this big sigh, and he’s like, ‘Uhh, we can’t get a break,'” Punk said about his current back injury that is keeping him from his debut.

“So immediately I go into, ‘Well, maybe there’s a shot I can get? Maybe I can do cortisone, whatever?’ And Lorenzo and Dana stop me, and they went ‘No, no, no, it is what it is. We just want to get you fixed and get you healthy. We have shows every month, don’t worry about it.’ It’s just, the timing sucked. I’m literally about to walk out and do this thing, And they were great. It’s hard not to compare and contrast to where I used to work before. It was just a relief to finally have a boss who was like, ‘No, no just get fixed, we want you 100%, we want you to be healthy,’ not interested in throwing a band-aid on a bullet wound just to parade me out in front of people. So it was a relief, and it felt nice.”

Although he didn’t name McMahon or the WWE in particular, it is still pretty unwise for Punk to name the company or their medical staff since he is currently going through a defamation suit brought against him by WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann.

At this point, however, it seems that fans and onlookers alike have gotten a little tired of hearing Punk talk and are ready for him to fight. That, sadly, doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon.

I predict that CM Punk will never have an actual UFC bout – his body is simply too messed up from years of Pro wrestling.
In my opinion, he should have just trained in MMA and had a couple of lower level MMA fights before thinking of jumping to the UFC -BUT, I think he knew that his athletic life-span was short and wanted to make a splash immediately.
The problem with going straight to the UFC without building a physical/athletic foundation in MMA fighting is that his body is already messed up and has been for years – plus he has NO EXPERIENCE in real combat sports, which are incredibly hard on one’s body and brain.
