Brooklyn’s Notorious B.I.G. said it best: Mo’ money, mo’ problems. And most people who catapult into the limelight seem to experience this quicker than most. Jay IDK, a buzzing rapper from the DMV, uses his newest record to speak on the new obstacles he’s facing as a result of his growing success. Titled “Trust Nobody,” the record gives listeners a realistic scope of the troubles that fame can bring to your personal relationships.
“Money sometimes provokes the people around you to act as if they have your best interest at heart,” he told The FADER. “Trusting no one protects you from falling victim.”
Jay IDK’s rap career has been taking off in recent months. Sparked by the release of a project titled SubTrap, his fame has managed to land him on stages with a number of big-name artists, including Wale. In addition to performing at SubTrap farewell shows, he’ll be heading on the Shadows of Doubt tour with Freddie Gibbs. The first stop on that joint effort is Thalia Hall in Chicago, IL, on 4/20. For more dates, see the list below.
