The Drop: A Guide to ScHoolboy Q’s “Blank Face” LP, DJ Khaled’s Album, and Other July Releases

ScHoolboy Q

“Good things happen to those who wait” is an age-old saying that could easily describe music fans in 2016. Those of us who have been anticipating album releases from some of music’s most popular artists—Kanye West, Beyoncé, Chance The Rapper, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, ASAP Ferg, and others—have gotten more than what we hoped for. Beyoncé’s Lemonade is a step up from her last visual album. Kanye West’s “living breathing changing creative expression” that is The Life of Pablo continues to push the envelope. And let’s not forget Chance The Rapper’s Gospel-tinged Coloring Book.

With the latter half of 2016 to go, fans have even more music to await. July brings forth the highly anticipated album from TDE’s ScHoolboy Q. Titled “Blank Face,” the LP is heralded by “Groovy Tony,” the Kanye West-assisted “THat Part,” and a thrilling video series. Another highlight of the month is DJ Khaled’s Major Key, which he’s dubbed his “greatest work to date.”

Other albums due out include Snoop Dogg’s COOLAID, AraabMuzik’s Dream World, Lil Durk’s Lil Durk 2x, BADBADNOTGOOD’s IV, and Atlantic Records’ newcomer PJ’s Rare. Then there’s always the possibility of surprise releases. PARTYNEXTDOOR, Ye Ali, and a few others have albums expected to drop in the coming weeks.
