I’m Me, I Do Me, And I Chill: An Appreciation Of Kevin Durant’s Old Tweets

Kevin-Durant-Old-Tweets

What was the best part of the Summer of Durant? If you’re a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder, it couldn’t have been what transpired yesterday. If you’re a fan of parity, it definitely couldn’t have been what transpired yesterday. However, one thing that we all got some pretty good enjoyment out of was the unearthing of Kevin Durant’s old, yet hilariously glorious tweets.

One thing people may tend to forget is that as Kevin Durant rose from top NBA prospect, to league MVP, to the NBA’s new super villain (depending on who you ask) is that he was just like all of us once upon a time. Just like you and me, KD used to spend his time letting his thoughts loose on social media – and boy did he have some thoughts.

From thirsting after Amber Rose, Keri Hilson, Erykah Badu and Scarlett Johansson, to clowning people in the club who spend entirely too much money in there, to flaming random people on Twitter who tried to get at his nappy hair. If you forget the future Hall of Fame career, the millions of dollars he’s made playing a sport, the celebrity, and the fact that he’s one of the most recognizable athletes on the planet, he’s just like you and me!

Some of the tweets look funny in hindsight given his new circumstances, but you show me something that you believed seven years ago and still do to this day. Don’t worry, we’ll wait.

Anyway, congratulations to Kevin Durant on signing to the Golden State Warriors and starting what is sure to be one of the most interesting NBA seasons in quite some time. Before you get a chance to love the impending dominance or deliver him with LeBron/Miami levels of hate, let’s all gather around and appreciate a simpler time in KD’s life with these life gems after the jump.
