NBA Free Agency hit HARD this weekend. Ridiculous amounts of money were spent, superstars left teams and signed some major extensions. Looking past some of the obvious winners (Warriors) and losers (Thunder), who were the winners and losers of free agency?

WINNER: The Players

Straight up, the players got paid. A slew of massive deals hit free agency day one, culminating in Mike Conley’s five-year $153 million deal. Some may believe that these amounts were insane for the players receiving the deals, but that might not be the case. Rachel Nichols brought up a good point, that money is better in the hands of the players than the owners. The NBA signed a massive new television deal and the salary cap is rising. So while your friend on Twitter might be mad Nicholas Batum is signing for $120 million, it means the league is doing great and players are getting a good chunk of the profits. This in turn is outstanding news for the sport of basketball as a whole.
