Ray J May Be the First to Sue Kanye West For “Famous” Video

Ray J

Since the release of the polarizing visual for The Life of Pablo standout “Famous,” there has been a lot of speculation as to how the celebrities portrayed in the video would respond. The day that the video first hit the net, it was clear that it could lead to some legal repercussions. Even Kanye West himself took to Twitter to ask the question, “Can somebody sue me already?”

Be careful watch you ask for. Ray J’s manager, David Weintraub, spoke with Heat magazine, stating that Ray J is giving serious consideration to taking legal action for the video and his portrayal in it.

“There’s too many times Kanye has done this. You can’t really continue to use people’s likenesses without either compensation or clearance,” Weintraub told Heat. “It seems to be becoming an issue—this is like the fourth time in six months he’s done this.”

Ray J’s initial response to the video was that he was just “trying to stay positive,” but it’s looking like he’s ready to take action for his naked likeness in the visual.

Clearly, being sued for this visual won’t come as a shock for Kanye, but if Ray J decides to go forward with the lawsuit, it will be interesting to see how this one plays out in court.
