Brooklyn MC, Kris Kasanova, is ending the year right with the final visual off of his 24K project. “Tomorrow” which is produced by DJ Dahi (Dom Kennedy’s “My Type Of Party,” Drake’s “Worst Behavior”) and featuring SZA of Top Dawg Entertainment. The MC talked to STASHED about how the project was made.
“It was kinda dope how Tomorrow came about,” Kasanova told STASHED. “I got hit on Twitter by DJ Dahi’s manager saying how he really liked my music and how he wanted to send some beats my way. A few days later, I received a bunch of beats that were all fire. It took me a while to really zone in on one track but when I did “Tomorrow” happened.”
The video features the Brooklyn native going through the trials and tribulations of growing up in the hood and the temptations that come with the surroundings of living there. “Where I am from people are content with their situations which prevents them from dreaming. I feel like the thing that’s more important than money has to be dreams,” Kasanova said of the video. “Every day someone always has their hand out asking for money so I played off of that as a metaphor in the song… “Do you have a dream I can borrow, ’till tomorrow”
The song features Top Dawg Entertainment songstress, SZA, and the rapper details how this collaboration came about with the rising singer. “I already had a relationship with SZA so while I was thinking of a hook, she was the 1st one that came to mind,” he states. “I told her the idea and she was down. Her voice makes it all come to life… She really understood the colors I was trying to paint.”
